What is a Water Descaler or Conditioner?
Aries FilterWorks 3300 series Phosphate Cartridge contains food grade, slow melt polyphosphate that dissolves in water to inhibit scale and rust build up. Aries FilterWorks provides laboratory quality, premium grade filtration products.
The hardness minerals are converted to crystals that neutralize the ability to bind to surfaces. This is actually water conditioning, not softening. The Water conditioner (Descaler) is paired with whole house sediment and carbon filters that captures the crystallized calcium and magnesium. If any crystal escape capture it is not a problem.
You will see a reduction in scale build up because crystals won’t adhere to surfaces.
With a true Water Softener, hardness minerals (Calcium and Magnesium) are actually removed from the water through a process called ion exchange. However, with the salt-free system the minerals are retained in the water, but their form is changed so they will not adhere to surfaces. Remember both Calcium an Magnesium do have their health benefits in moderation
